Sharing Some "Heart" for Handmade Harbour

Today I am sharing an awesome new digital stamp from Handmade Harbour for their Papercraft Party.  The theme this week is "Hearts and/or Flowers and I fell in love with this new digital stamp designed by Wendy called "Hearts within a Heart" , because you can print and color it OR you do what I did and print it onto several sheets of complimentary patterned paper and then cut awaaaaay!

I went a wee bit crazy and made FIVE 5x7 inch cards all using the same digital stamp and trying out several different techniques... so Enjoy...SMILE

On this card I used my crackle medium and when it was dry I rubbed in some chocolate colored ink with my finger to bring out the cracks...
You can see it really well here...

On this card I used double sided tape to create a wall of lace ribbon, You gotta love that!

I kept this card fairly simple, using some lovely sheer ribbon and lots of stickles for sparkle...
And finally for this card I picked turquoise as my complimentary accent color and tied on that one button to make a statement...
So why not pop on by to the Handmade Harbour Papercraft Party this week to see what my design teammates have created and why not join in?  You could win a blinky for your blog AND if you use one of the Handmade Harbour digis on your entry you will be eligible for the prize of FREE DIGIS!
And don't forget to leave me some "blog love" in the form of a comment if you like what you see... Smile
Cheers!

Happy Day Cards...

Hello Everyone! Today I am sharing three cards I created with one of my favorite Susan K. Weckesser stamp sets - "Create Your Day" by Unity Stamps.  I love everything about this set - the small size of the images - the lovely sentiments - and especially how happy these images make me feel.

I like to make more than one card at a time so I stamped out everything three times on a sheet of my favorite 100lbs white card stock;
I used my gel pens and doodling to fill in the images;

and then I cut them all out;

Now it's time to create my backgrounds, I used three different techniques:
1. My heat gun, white embossing powder and a background stamp

2. My Paper Crimper
3. A Brayer and a Multi-colored Ink Pad

I then re-assemble my pieces onto each card base, using foam pop dots to create some different heights for interest.

and Voila! Three Super cute cards that are all very different from each other using the same stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by to share with me today, and don't forget to leave a comment if you like what you see...Smile

Empowering Women... Truth Cards for 2014

Hello Everyone! Lynne here with my first official 2014 blog post for the Susan K. Weckesser design team and today I want to share with you my latest version of a "Truth Card" for 2014.

I am calling these wee bits of scrappy goodness Empowering Women because every piece of painted, inky, lace and sparkle-embellished cardboard is a home for a stamped woman making some sort of empowering, encouraging or fun statement.

Now, just in case you're not familiar with the term, a Truth Card is a place to record a message from the Universe that speaks to your heart which you want to remember.

It is always uplifting and makes you feel good.  Sometime that message is so powerful that it can stop you in your tracks; sometimes that message is so personal that it makes you feel like you've been hit in the heart, but in a good and empowering way.
When the Universe speaks to me I feel moved to record it in some way, so I began creating these little cards for myself to leave around the house when I needed to see them.

But last year I started sending them off to any one that I felt needed one... and it has become my way to send a bit of joy and tangible support to someone that usually only gets my virtual {{hugs}}.
As you can see, Susan's Poised and Pretty stamp set by Unity Stamps is perfect for these truth cards, and for these cards I left my stamped figure uncolored and created her clothes from stamping her again on pretty patterned paper and cutting them out, where I took some liberties with the dress length and shortened them to create even more outfits.. how fun is THAT!
So I hope this post encourages you to try making a little truth card of your own... it is also a really fun way to use up your scraps and try out new mixed-media techniques without any pressure.
Thanks for stopping by to share

Happiness... with Handmade Harbour

Hello Everyone!  It's Papercraft Party time over at Handmade Harbour today and the theme this week is Happiness.  I made a sweet little mixed media canvas to celebrate the beginning of our new year and to remind me to appreciate all that I have in my life rather than moaning about all that I don't have - in other words... to BE HAPPY...smile.

I used this new digital stamp by Wendy of Handmade Harbour called "Girl in Windy Weather" and doesn't she just look happy even in the midst of the "weather"?

and I had so much fun creating the background of this canvas going outside of my paint-spray-ink box and throwing EVERYTHING onto it.  I actually stamped and heat embossed the finished background with white embossing powder and then added gold foil accents, I even poked holes through the canvas and used giant circle brads as accents. And of course I used stickles to make it sparkle!

I adhered my copic-colored, stickles-accented image to the canvas using foam pop dots and I applied a liberal coating of Liquid Glass to her boots to make them shine

I Love everything about this little, happy 4x6 canvas and I am sending her off right now to a friend that needs a hug!

So pop on by to the Handmade Harbour blog and see what else by my Design Teammates have created for this challenge... and why not join in?  Create something following this weeks theme and link up your blog post to share with the rest of us...
Cheers!

One Little Word (OLW)

Good Day everyone - It's already the 7th of January on this first Saturday in 2014 and it is also reveal day on  the Challenge YOUrself Blog for our second monthly challenge:

Challenge YOUrself #2: One Little Word
Choose a word that you will focus on and reflect upon all through the year. Create a layout that celebrates your chosen word for 2014. If you are new too OLW (One Little Word), you can find more information HERE.
My word for 2014 is NOURISH
Now just let me say that I have never done the OLW thing before and I had to dig really deep to find that one word that I wanted to be tied to for the entire year... because I know that I will be changed by whatever word I pick... but finally that One Word rose up from the depths of my soul and wafted into my brain and I knew it was the right word because when I "found it" I felt like every thing in my mind shifted for the better.  Here is my layout:
I will spend time this year Nourishing my body to stay healthy; my soul to stay happy; my heart to stay whole ... but also
I will spend time Nourishing my friendships, my relationships, my ties with the community and my ties with my family ...
I will spend time remembering Who I am and How I want to live my life and I will Nourish these parts of me... because I love my life but if I want to continue loving my life and being happy I have to spend the time and put the energy into Nourishing - maintaining, supporting - those people and things in my life that I love so much... and on the flip side - removing from my life those things (and people) who do not  Nourish me.
So I'd Love if you wanted to come and play with me (smile) and find Your One Little Word that may help to change your life this year... and if you make a layout come share the love and link it up at the Challenge YOUrself Blog (smile) there will be prizes!

My First Post of the Year - 2014

I cannot believe it is 2014... this year I will celebrate my 52nd birthday I really never thought that I would live this long (see this Post for why)
But I AM here and doing better than I ever thought I would or could and Loving my life...

And like many other people I like to spend a bit of time reflecting on the past year and looking over the next few months of this new year to see where I am at and if I am still heading in the same direction and more importantly ... if I still WANT to be heading in the direction that I am going!
For me 2013 has been a year of personal challenges and physical obstacles on many different levels of my life but these challenges have caused me to re-evaluate what I thought I wanted in my life, to establish where I am heading right now and to make me really think about what I want to do with my future - always uncomfortable but never a waste of time.
I have come to realize that I LIKE who I am and how I am and how I live my life... but that there is always room for improvement and I will continue to make those adjustments as required...

I have also realized this year that I can embrace my inner beauty and allow myself to feel pretty every single day no matter what the outside cover is looking like...

I realized that I LOVE to Laugh and I missed doing that for a while this year... but I am doing it again

I also realized that I really do still LIKE people - in general and in specific - but that in future I will be more selective about who I "let in" to my heart and soul...
But the biggest thing for me this year was realizing that HOME is not a place but is a feeling I hold in my heart; a feeling that is tied to the people I love the most in this world and that I am ready to move on...

2013 was also the year I unchained my inner artist from the basement of my soul, allowing her to fly free... and WHAT a journey that has been...smile!

But I realized that I MISS scrapbooking and that although I am loving my Art Journey... I need to make sure that I scrapbook more this year - and you will get to see all of it as I just have to share with you...
So thank you for sharing my 2013 with me and Happy 2014 everyone... I hope you keep coming back to check in on me as I continue to travel (and share) my journey....
Happy Days.... Smile
