The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #62 - "O" Is For Outerspace

Today over at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers the new challenge for the next two weeks is:  "O" is for Outerspace:
Doesn't Edna look peaceful?  I decided to create something other than a card for this challenge when I came across these words "I Love my Space" and immediately my Granson and his new need for PRIVACY came to mind so THIS is what I created showcasing Dudley:
So much better than KEEP OUT, don't you think?  Here is the other side... These wee aliens, all fussy cut from Crate Paper's Orbit Collection, totally tickled my fancy and I just love how it feels like they are all looking at you, almost daring you to enter...Grin!
And we would LOVE if you wanted to join in all the fun, just link up your take on an Outerspace project by Midnight Friday, July 8th for chance to be Queen or Princess of Snark!  Now here are some photos showing you the process of how I created this mixed media bedroom door hanger from a piece of thick cardboard - enjoy!
I started by cutting out this door hanger shape from some super thick cardboard I had in my scrap box which I gave two coats of black gesso...
Here are all the products I used to create that awesome space background... and that is Dyan Reavely's Star Stencil
Here is a close up of that background
I cut off Dudley's Head and inserted it into this Astronaut suit I cut from BoBunny's Blast Off Collection. And YES, that is Ranger's Liquid Pearl all over his suit because I thought he needed to be shiney!
Now I did the same thing on the back side but I used my Dreamweaver Meltalic Silver Paste instead of gold.
And here is a close up of those wee aliens from Crate Paper's Orbit Collection... Can you tell that I really, really LIKE them!
I did not add Dudley's mokey tail to this project as it just didn't look right, so you have to imagine it floating in space behind him...Grin
I think my grandson is really going to like this particular project!  As always, thanks for popping by to see what I am up to and please do leave me a comment if you like what you see!

Women Unleashed - a FREE Online Summer Retreat

Good Day Blogland Peeps... today I want to share my journal pages from the Women Unleashed Retreat.. a FREE series of online videos that encourage you to access your inner desires and to take action ... Go HERE to find out all about this awesome series.  But promoting this retreat is NOT why I am blogging today... I want to share about my internal creative struggle as I worked to complete these two pages in my Art Journal.
Even though  I always LOVE my finished pages, this is a creative process and I do not always love them when I am starting out.  For this particular lesson I really struggled with how UGLY these two pages looked, and how what was on the paper did not reflect at all what was in my head.  I just wanted to QUIT and paint over everything with Gesso! But I didn't quit, and I allowed myself to keep adding to the page - more lines, more color and more doodles until all of a sudden I wasn't Hating it anymore! I was starting to love the direction and the look and the feel this page was taking.
I don't think it was a coincidence that as I was working through these pages I was also working through turning some Limiting Beliefs into Liberating Beliefs by allowing myself to hear the Mean Girl voice in my head, acknowledge her presence, recognize that the critisisms she was making were no longer valid and MOVE ON!  All a part of  Tamara Laporte's lesson yesterday for the Women Unleashed Retreat .
So my advice to you as you start out on your own creative  journey, especially with mixed media, is "Don't Give Up On Yourself Too Soon."  Keep adding to your "beginning" until all of a sudden it takes on a life of its own, and then you LOVE it!

As Always, thanks for popping in to see what I am up to and please do leave me a comment if you like what you are seeing!

NOTE: I just want you to know that used only Heidi Swap & Dylusion sprays and Sharpie markers to create this page with a bit of Ranger Liquid Pearls and Glossy Accents for highlighting.  You do not need a lot of special supplies to create pretty stuff.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #368

Happy What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #368  Peeps!  and Today is a very special day as Julia, our wonderful leader is linking up for the first time since her major surgery a month a and a bit ago... YEAAAH! If you are new to this wonderful weekly hop... GO HERE to find out all about it.  Here is my wonderful desk space today:
I want to share that I am working in my art journal doing the first lesson for the Women's Unleashed FREE Online Retreat  If you haven't been by to check this out you absolutely should!
The first video lesson contained a guided meditation that was poweful and inspiring and helped me to see that I was guarding my heart behind this very large, very heavy, very OLD door...but that behind that door was a beautiful light-filled garden that needed to be shared!
I love the way my journal pages turned out and because I had painted right overtop of my personal journaling about the meditation, when I the pages were completed I decided cut open my door so that it opened and to add some personal notes for future reference.
I also want to share this wonderful glass cookie jar I found at my local second hand store... and there were two of them!
One now holds all my mini inks and the other all my tissue tape and washi tape... Pretty, easy to move and easy to see through and large enough to keep them all in one place ... Swoon! And here a few close ups of my "shrine" female figures that inspire me and give me positive creative energy when Ilook at them
I found these two lovelies at the Salt Lake City Airport in a shop that promoted local artists, I was immediately drawn to them and HAD to have two.  And Finally the following are three more ATC's that I received last week ... I am LOVING my mailbox these days... Happy Sigh

I love that here card and ATC are a tribute to her home country of Australia!
And then she add this envelope STUFFED with these wonderful bits that are already waiting to be used on my next project!
Well that's it for today!  Now don't forget to pop by Lunch Lady Jan's to see who else linked up for this week's WOYWW! And as always thank you for popping by to see what I am up to and please do leave me a comment if you like what you are seeing!

It's Official - I Am A STAMPlorations Girl!

I am so excited to be able to finally share this news with all of you - "I made the STAMPlorations ARTplorations Mixed Media Design Team and I begin my one-year term on July 1st." (Whooo Hooo!)

I discovered STAMPlorations last year through a wonderful woman I follow, Becca Kruger, (The Damsel of Distress), and I have been impressed with the quality of their products and the amazing inspiration the design team provides ever since.  So when I saw their design team call earlier this year I just had to apply!
I have been playing with STAMPlorations' stamps and stencils for the past six months and I love everything about them, but it was Shery Russ the owner of this small business who impressed me the most.  She really cares about her business, provides wonderful customer service and is an amazing designer in her own right.

I am really looking forward to my term with this wonderful company and to being a part of the ARTplorations Mixed Media Design Team, where twice a week we provide a mixed media tutorial featuring stencils and stamps and every month we have an "Anything But A Card" mixed media challenge for which the design team chooses a winner and there are prizes!
So stay tuned for many fun projects heading your way for the next twelve months as I challenge myself to provide you with some inspiration all year long (Big Giant Smile).

Happy Wednesday Deskers! (well actually it's 11:00pm on Tuesday here in the Rocky Mountains where I live in the western most province in Canada) but I am determined not to be LAST this week!  It's going to be a short amount of typing and a LOT of photos as I create this photo-heavy post revealing of all the ATCs I have received to date as I promised last week.  But first, Here is My Desk,
well actually this is my work space for all the messy stuff like, sprays and gels and black gesso... and you are seeing the beginnings of lots of projects I am working on all at the same time... which is totally how my creative brain works...lots of days of no inspiration and then WHAM... it all hits at the same time and I am working on 3 to 10 projects all at once! Grin and now, on to the reveal... Enjoy!
